It's Chinese New Year's Eve but can you feel something is wrong. The atmosphere all over Singapore is not as buoyant as last year or the year before. It all leads down to the recession. Many say that they are tapping into their reserves to make their reunion dinner more lavish and memorable. They also say is painful but it is part of their families tradition to spend during festive celebrations. Shop owners are very concerned as their customers will be less willing to spend. Unfortunately, I read somewhere that this year is the year of the ox yellow colour. This means that we have to work harder to achieve what we want.
The recession might not impact my directly but i have to learnt to spend ,whatever money i have, wisely. Being thrifty is not the only thing, I also stopped pestering my parents to buy me items. Now i realised how difficult it is to earn money.
It may not be a great Chinese New Year but it can still be a good one.
Happy CNY to all!!
